Wichita State launches online composites course for engineers

Wichita State University will launch a Basic Composites for Engineers Online Noncredit Course on Thursday, Aug. 1.

This is an introductory course for engineers who have little or no experience with composite materials.

The course consists of 40 hours of guided instruction through five instructional modules on topics that include manufacturing methods, mechanics of lamina and laminates, ply failure theories and structural analysis, damage resistance and tolerance, and design guidelines.

Students can begin the course at any time and will have the flexibility to complete sections at their own pace during a 60-day time period.

The course instructor is Suresh Keshavanarayana, WSU associate professor of aerospace engineering.
