Daniel Seddiqui, author of “50 Jobs in 50 States,” will be the keynote speaker at an event sponsored by the offices of Multicultural Affairs and Cooperative Education and Work-Based Learning at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, in Room 208, Hubbard Hall, at Wichita State University.

The talk is free and open to the public, and was made possible by a grant from the Bank of America Foundation.

Seddiqui, spurred by uncertainty in his career path, set out on a 50-week quest to explore every corner of the United States to gain a better understanding of the U.S. employment market.

Relying on adaptability, networking and endurance, Seddiqui tried his hand at one job in each state, choosing a job in each that typified the region.

From working as a lobsterman in Maine to logging in Oregon, Seddiqui’s adventure was the subject of hundreds of national news reports and a best-selling book.

Seddiqui has been a TEDx presenter and is founder and CEO of Living the Map, which raises awareness of cultures, careers and environments across the United States.

An economics student who graduated from the University of Southern California, Seddiqui’s visit to WSU will relate how he learned to turn rejection into opportunity and dreams into reality.
