New Wichita State residence facility to be called Shocker Hall

The new residence hall under construction at Wichita State will be called Shocker Hall. Construction is still on schedule with plans for the building to be open on Aug. 6, 2014, in time for next year’s fall semester.

The new residence hall, between Cessna Stadium and Morrison Hall, will hold 782 beds. A new 400-seat dining hall will be attached to Shocker Hall.

Most first-year students and some returning students will reside in the new residence hall. Several room configurations will be available, including singles, standard doubles, double rooms with two singles and quad rooms with four single rooms. Some will have small living room areas.

Each floor will have a laundry room, community kitchen and lounge area.

The new residence hall will help energize WSU and provide exceptional access to academic and recreational opportunities.
