WSU to host second annual Canta Carol Run

Wichita State University will host the second annual Canta Carol Run at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Duerksen Fine Arts Center.

The 5K walk or run will feature festive carolers singing holiday songs throughout the course. After the run, participants will enjoy a warm beverage, holiday goodies and a visit with Santa Claus. The first 200 people to register for the race will receive a free long-sleeved Carol Run shirt.

Early registration cost for the run is $15 for all students, kindergarten through college, $20 for WSU faculty and staff, and $25 for the general public. Registration after Saturday, Dec. 7 is $30, and it's $40 on race day.

All proceeds from the race will help provide student scholarships for the ninth Canta in Italia summer voice and opera program. The program allows students to participate in an intensive vocal study and performance course for four weeks in Lucca, Italy.

The run is being sponsored by KMUW Wichita Public Radio, 89.1, Phelps Tax & Financial Services Inc., Via Christi Health and Dean & DeLuca.
