Studies from innovative health care to the grasslands are among a range of topics that will be presented from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, by Wichita State University graduate students at the Capitol Graduate Research Summit.

The 11th annual summit will be held on the second floor of the rotunda in the Capitol Building in Topeka. The event is free and open to the public.

Ten WSU graduate students will share their findings with legislators, the Kansas Board of Regents, industry representatives and other attendees. Following the summit, two WSU graduate students will be chosen as winners and receive awards.

“WSU is proud to bring excellent graduate research to the Capitol Graduate Research Summit,” said Interim Dean of the Graduate School Abu Masud. “The research submitted this year is outstanding and will directly benefit the state of Kansas. We want to highlight the importance of graduate student research to both the economic advancement of the state and the well-being of its residents. WSU continues to be a leader in applied scholarship for both students and faculty.”

Graduate students from the University of Kansas, KU Medical Center and Kansas State University will also participate in the summit. In total, 33 graduate students will showcase their research on topics that are significant for the state. The summit is supported by KansasBio and the graduate schools and graduate student organizations or committees at each university.

WSU students presenting at the summit, with their respective faculty mentors in parenthesis, are: William Choi (Jibo He); Halil Cobuloglu (Esra Buyuktahtakin); Jake Ellis (Jibo He), Sarah Fouquet (Evan Palmer); Samantha Jansen (Alex Chaparro); Eyyub Kibis (Esra Buyuktahtakin); Foo Kok (Roy Myose); Ali McKeown (David Downs); Wilfred Nobleheart (Animesh Chakravarthy); and Madhulika Srikanth (Ramazan Asmatulu).
