Kenya Safari Acrobats bring cultural experience to Wichita State

Wichita State University’s Student Activities Council is sponsoring the Kenya Safari Acrobats, who will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27, in the CAC Theater.

The troupe has performed all over the United States, including at the White House, Disney World, Six Flags and the Super Bowl, and are cultural ambassadors from their native Kenya.

The Kenya Safari Acrobats learned the art of dance and tumbling as children on the beaches of Kenya as a way to escape their impoverished country. Their acrobatic show includes a nonstop ride of gravity-defying human pyramids, balancing, tumbling, limbo dancing, hurling through hoops and breathtaking contortions, all while clapping to a Benga beat.

Combining artistry with humor and playfulness, the popular dance troupe promises Wichita State a unique cultural experience; a blend of traditional African arts and circus skills that are sure to please.

Tickets for the show are $10 and $5 for children 12 and under. Admission for WSU students is free with ID. Tickets are available in the Student Involvement Office, Rhatigan Student Center, Room 262, 316-978-3022.
