WSU College of Ed hosts exceptionality awareness day

Exceptionalities Awareness Campaign Day is Thursday, June 5, an event hosted by the Wichita State University College of Education.

The college’s special education program has partnered with Envision, providing employment opportunities and rehabilitation services for individuals with low vision or blindness; Starkey, serving individuals with intellectual disabilities; the Joe Hull Scholarship Foundation; and WSU Disability Services.

Individuals aged 16 and older with low vision or blindness and their families will visit campus June 5 to learn more about college life -- not only by attending some classes, but also by shadowing faculty and staff in the college to find out more about campus jobs.

This is part of an effort to expand the education and career options for people with exceptionalities in Wichita, and at the same time, give WSU special education students an opportunity to interact with individuals with exceptionalities and network with those who provide services to them.
