Full house expected in Wichita State's Shocker Hall

Wichita State University’s Shocker Hall will be full when it opens in August.

As of May 14, Shocker Hall was full, with more than 775 students expected to reside in the new residence hall.

Applicants after May 14 are being placed on a wait list. If no rooms become available by Aug. 1, students on the wait list will be placed in Fairmount Towers.

The new residence hall, between Cessna Stadium and Morrison Hall, will hold 782 beds. A new 400-seat dining hall will be attached to Shocker Hall.

Most first-year students and some returning students will reside in the new residence hall. Several room configurations will be available, including singles, standard doubles, double rooms with two singles and quad rooms with four single rooms. Some will have small living room areas.

Each floor will have a laundry room, community kitchen and lounge area.

The new residence hall will help energize WSU and provide exceptional access to academic and recreational opportunities.
