In its biggest series yet, Wichita State University's Creative Writing Program is bringing six of the nation's best fiction and poetry writers to campus for the 2014-15 "Writing Now, Reading Now" series.
The series is free and open to the public.
The first event in the series is a reading by Cary Holladay at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at WSU’s Ulrich Museum of Art.
Holladay has written many works of fiction, including “Merry-Go-Sorry,” which was selected for an O. Henry Prize by Stephen King.
Other authors in this series include:
- Paul Harding, winner of the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for his novel “Tinkers” – 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, in the Ulrich Museum.
- Sam Taylor, author of “Body of the World” and “Nude Descending an Empire” – 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in the Ulrich Museum.
- Mary Ruefle, a WSU distinguished poet and author of 11 collections of poetry – 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, in the Ulrich Museum.
- Elizabeth Gaffney, author of “Metropolis” and “When the World Was Young” – 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, in the Ulrich Museum.
- David Wojahn, a recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation, 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 1, in the Ulrich Museum.
- Wichita State Master of Fine Arts graduates – 2-2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 26, in Ablah Library.
