Kimberly Moore has been named director of Wichita State University's new Office for Workforce, Professional and Community Education (WPCE), formerly known as the Office of Continuing Education. Moore has served as the interim director of the WSU Office of Continuing Education since October, 2014. She previously served as associate director of Continuing Education from 1997-2014. Moore received her juris doctor and bachelor degrees from Washburn University.

Tony Vizzini, WSU provost and senior vice president, said WPCE’s far-reaching slate of services and educational offerings will help WSU meet its goal to be the primary economic driver in the city and region.

“The Office for Workforce, Professional and Community Education helps position WSU as a regional provider and referral point for workforce training,” Vizzini said. “WPCE will provide educational courses to businesses, industry, government and to any nondegree-seeking student who is in need of workforce development, professional re-licensure, and personal enrichment educational activities and programs.”

WPCE will connect entities with University resources that can provide high-quality, cost-effective, short-term, career-relevant training solutions, as well as for-credit short courses, badges and certifications. It will incorporate the existing activities of Continuing Education.

“A skilled and educated workforce is vital to future economic growth,” Moore said. “I look forward to the role WPCE will play in meeting the training and professional development needs of regional employers, employees and community members.”

WPCE is administratively located in the Division of Academic Affairs and reports to Richard Muma, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.
