O'Neal named to position in Office of Adult Learning at Wichita State

Pamela O'Neal is the new Office and Recruiting Manager of the Office of Adult Learning at Wichita State University effective Monday, June 8. O'Neal has been the Communications, Public Relations and Recruitment Specialist at the School of Nursing since 2013.

O'Neal has a master's degree in communication from WSU and is currently pursuing her masters in public health. Her work expertise involves recruiting, communications and advising in higher education.

"Adult learners face a different set of challenges than traditional students when it comes to completing their degree," said O'Neal. "Work and family are demanding responsibilities. The Office of Adult Learning ensures adult learners do not need to sacrifice either commitment in order to fulfill their dreams."

Susan Norton, director of the Office of Adult Learning, said O'Neal's experience and strengths-based approach to learning makes her the ideal person to be the office and recruiting manager.

"She will lead recruitment, marketing and event planning. She will also make website updates, manage social media and maintain the recruitment and retention database," said Norton.

"I am excited for the opportunity to help grow and expand the work of the Office of Adult Learning," said O'Neal. "As an adult learner, I am extremely passionate about helping others fulfill their dreams of obtaining a college degree."

The Office of Adult Learning is located at Hughes Metropolitan Complex and reports to Academic Affairs.
