Holiday organ concert to be performed at Wichita State

Wichita State University's associate professor of organ Lynne Davis is presenting the 6th annual holiday organ concert at 5:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, in Wiedemann Hall.

The concert, free and open to the public, will feature Christmas songs written for the pipe organ by French composers Louis-Claude Daquin, Charles-Marie Widor and Gaston Litaize. David Hunsicker, associate professor of trumpet, will accompany Davis in her performance of “A Christmas Suite for Trumpet and Organ.” Davis will also play Christmas carols and invite the audience to sing along.

Davis studied and performed in France prior to coming to Wichita State in 2006 and has recorded multiple albums of work. Perhaps her most famous recording, “Musique pour Cathédrales,” played on the famed organ at Chartres Cathedral in France, won the French 5 Diapasons award. The award is in recognition of outstanding classical music recordings.
