Wichita State University College of Health Professions Dean Sandra Bibb has been elected to a four-year term on the board of directors of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI).

Bibb was inducted into the Zeta Mu chapter of the honor society in 1982. She will serve as one of five directors-at-large by the House of Delegates.

“I am humbled by this opportunity to give back to an organization that is invested in servant leadership, connectedness, transformation and gratitude; and is committed to transforming global health in the 21st century,” Bibb said.

As a member of the board, Bibb will be part of a team focused on goal-setting, planning, policy development, resource development, corporate oversight, evaluation and decision-making.

STTI was founded in 1922 at the Indiana University Training School for Nurses, since renamed the Indiana University School of Nursing. It is the first organization in the United States to fund nursing research and remains a large contributor in the field.

STTI’s mission is advancing world health and celebrating nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership and service. In 2015, STTI celebrated 93 years of excellence in nursing. The society has grown to more than 155,000 members at 500 chapters in more than 98 countries.
