WSU to host Kansas labor and employment laws seminar

Wichita State University will host a seminar covering key labor and employment laws frequently found in federal contracts.

The seminar will be held at 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, in the WSU Hughes Metropolitan Complex. The event is free and open to the public.

Government contracts attorney Steven Koprince will cover the following topics:

  • Prevailing wages and fringe benefit requirements under the Service Contract Act and Davis-Bacon Act
  • Restrictions on hiring certain individuals
  • The “right of first refusal” for service employees
  • Non-discrimination requirements
  • Affirmative action plans
  • The “mandatory sick leave” executive order
  • Labor and employment regulations as critical components of any federal contractor’s compliance obligations
