Violin and string pedagogy professor featured in faculty recital

Renowned violinist Brian Krinke will perform a faculty recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, in Wiedemann Hall at Wichita State University.

The recital will feature performances of “Sonata for Solo Violin” by Amelia Krinke, “Sonata for Solo Violin” by Bela Bartok, “Spinoff” by Charles Wuorinen and “Partita #2 in d minor” by Bach. Faculty members Mark Foley and Gerald Scholl will perform as well.

Krinke serves as the visiting assistant professor of violin and string pedagogy at Wichita State University, prior to which he trained students at the Special Music School in New York City. His teaching history also includes the State University of New York at Buffalo, Hochstein Music School, Lucy Moses School, LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts, Luther College and Florida State University.

A seasoned orchestral musician, Krinke has served as the assistant concertmaster of both the Rochester Philharmonic and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. He has made appearances with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and the American Symphony Orchestra.

General admission is $7, with $6 discount tickets available for seniors, faculty/staff and military, and $3 discount tickets available for children and students.
