WSU TRIO programs to host town hall meeting with local school board

Wichita State University's Office of Special Programs is hosting a town hall meeting as part of National TRIO Day 2016 to discuss the USD 259 school board and current student issues.

The event, which is free and open to the public, takes place from 10-11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, in the CAC Theater at WSU.

The USD 259 school board will be guest speakers at the meeting, giving students and faculty a chance to see the role of the board in the school district.

Wichita State hosts one of the largest and most comprehensive TRIO communities on a college campus in the United States. It prepares students for higher education beginning as early as the sixth grade.

WSU is home to nine TRIO programs, the first of which began in 1965. They offer tutoring, counseling, mentoring and financial guidance, with the primary goal being students’ success.
