Cheryl Miller wins Communicator of Achievement Award

Cheryl K. Miller was named the 2016 Communicator of Achievement, an honor presented by the Kansas Professional Communicators. She received this recognition at the organization’s annual spring conference, April 29, in Winfield.

Miller is senior assistant dean for the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Wichita State University. She produces general public relations work for the college, including the newsletter, website and academic catalogs. She coordinates faculty evaluation activities and elections, and serves as liaison between faculty governance and the dean.

Other duties include teaching a section of Writing for the Mass Audience and coordinating major college events such as commencement and the Watkins Visiting Professorship Lecture Series.

Miller holds numerous editing and writing awards. She earned a master of arts in college student personnel from Bowling Green State University. She holds a bachelor's of general studies in communication and a bachelor's of business administration in personnel administration from Wichita State.

As a member of the KPC since 2004, Miller has won national and state contest awards for her excellence in writing and editing for the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences newsletter.

Her interests include birding, hiking and singing. She serves as a voting member of the Kansas Bird Records Committee and sings in the Wichita Symphony Chorus.
