Wichita State's RN to BSN online program named a 'top value'

Wichita State University's RN to BSN online program was recognized by College Values Online as one of the top 30 best value online RN programs in the nation. WSU was the only Kansas school ranked.

Registered nursing programs are some of the most common online degrees, with more than 200 programs available in the United States. The report evaluated programs based off their affordability, student success and convenience.

WSU’s RN to BSN online program offers students the opportunity to gain their BSN degree in as little as one year, while taking all courses at their convenience.

The report highlights the flexibility of WSU’s program, saying “Asynchronous coursework – offered in full and part-time formats – affords students the flexibility they need to continue working as a health care professional while they advance their career in the classroom.”

Mark Porcaro, executive director of online learning at WSU, attributes much of the program’s success to the nursing faculty.

“They have worked diligently to ensure that this degree, which is in high demand, can be done whenever and wherever students need it,” said Porcaro. “The curriculum has a direct impact on what the students need for their careers.”

The program, which transitioned from a partially online RN to BSN program in 2014, saw an increase of more than 30 students in one year and continues to grow.
