Full-screen emergency alert system installed at Wichita State

As part of Wichita State University’s commitment to providing timely emergency information to the campus community, WSU has added Alertus Desktop Notifications to the university Shocker Alert System.

Alertus provides a full-screen alert when a Shocker Alert is issued.

The Shocker Alert system contacts all students, faculty and staff via email and digital office clocks the moment there is an emergency or weather alert that affects the campus. People can also choose to sign up for text alerts.

This newest desktop alert is just one more way to keep everyone informed, especially those who don’t have a digital clock in their office and have their cell phones and email applications turned off.

Alertus allows WSU to display the alert directly on WSU-owned PCs, reducing the amount of time it would take to notify users in the event of an emergency. Anyone working on a WSU-owned Mac can call the help desk, 316-978-4357, to get signed up.
