Ennovar, Commvault collaboration provides data-driven applied learning opportunities

The Ennovar Institute at Wichita State University today announced a partnership with Commvault, a global leader in enterprise backup, recovery, archive and the cloud.

Through this relationship, Commvault will provide Ennovar its industry-leading data protection and management software, expert training and best practices for deriving value and business insight from data.

“We’re excited about working with Ennovar — not only providing them with Commvault software, but equipping the students with valuable experience and training to assist them to be better qualified employees after they graduate and hit the job market,” said Dick Burton, account executive for Commvault. “This collaboration will help make them much more versatile.”

The relationship between Commvault and Ennovar began last fall, and Burton and systems engineer Bill Roberts recently visited campus to install software and do an initial round of training for Ennovar, the Institute of Emerging Technology and Market Solutions.

At that time, Commvault set up an environment for the staff and students to use the program to train on a premier data management program.

Burton is familiar with the needs of the state of Kansas through its State and Local Government Education program. It’s through this program that Commvault engineers became aware of a lack of trained information technology staff in Kansas, and they want to help fill that gap.

“We hope the relationship will lead to increased product recognition and knowledge and as an avenue for career placement,” said Burton.

Ennovar leadership hopes the relationship will result in establishing Ennovar as a Commvault center of excellence.

“By incorporating Commvault into our data center and gaining expertise on the software, we’ll not only become a facility for testing and showcasing Commvault software, but also be able to certify Ennovar staff and students as Commvault administrators,” said Matt Forney, director of research and technology for Ennovar.
