WSU earned a safety score of 87.98 percent. Data measured at each school were general safety, anti-discrimination, women’s safety, party culture and fire safety.

Factors highlighted in the report include WSU’s close relationship with local police and fire crews, the university’s own campus-based police department and one of the highest numbers of emergency call boxes, with 20 on the main campus.

“I think it’s great that we’re being recognized,” says WSU Police Chief Sara Morris. “We are a safe campus, and I wouldn’t hesitate to tell that to anybody.”
