Symphony Orchestra presents Handel's 'Messiah,' audience invited to sing-along

The Wichita State University Symphony Orchestra invites audience members to celebrate the holiday season with a sing-along concert featuring Handel’s “Messiah” 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, in Wiedemann Hall.

Led by Mark Laycock, the concert will focus on the Christmas portion of Handel’s beloved oratorio. Concert attendees can sit in their vocal section – soprano, alto, tenor or bass – and join in singing the favorite choruses of “And the Glory of the Lord,” “For Unto Us a Child Is Born,” “Glory to God” and “Hallelujah.”

The concert will also feature Lynne Davis, the Robert L. Town Distinguished Professor of Organ. Nine graduate student vocal soloists, chosen by audition, will perform arias and recitatives.

Audience members are encouraged to bring their own vocal scores, though music for the choruses will be provided for those in need. Attendees also have the option of enjoying the concert as observers.
