High school campers retrofit ride-on cars for children with disabilities

Eleven Wichita high schoolers have spent the week retrofitting toy ride-on cars for children with disabilities.

Their work is part of a summer camp put together by Wichita State University’s GoBabyGo! program, a collaboration between Rainbows United and WSU students in physical therapy and engineering.

This time, high school students are getting the chance to make a difference in the lives of four small children. They’re taking toy ride-on cars and rewiring, reprogramming and adjusting steering wheels and pedals for children with Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome and Dystonia.

The students will give the finished cars to the children from 2-4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 15, in Room 105 of WSU’s Experiential Engineering Building.
