WSU Haysville adds more choices for students of all levels

Wichita State University and WSU Tech will soon begin offering community classes at a new location, WSU Haysville.

In December, WSU entered into an agreement to lease the 23,000-square-foot former home of Haysville High School at 106 Stewart Ave. WSU and WSU Tech will hold classes at the new location starting this fall.

The classes will include general education courses, as well as sign language, advanced social science and HVAC.

The majority of the classes will be held in the afternoon and evening and be open to degree and non-degree students.

WSU Haysville came to life when Haysville officials approached WSU about the partnership. Bringing post-secondary classes to Haysville helps the Wichita suburb meet its goals of serving the educational needs of the community.

“It has been wonderful to work with the Haysville School District and city in this exciting initiative,” says Linnea Glenmaye, WSU associate vice president of academic affairs. “We appreciate the support of the community and look forward to developing courses and programs to serve the community.”

And it’s another opportunity for WSU and WSU Tech to explore new growth as they meet community needs.

“We’re familiar with the Haysville space from our dual credit courses that have been offered there, and we look forward to becoming more integrated into the community,” says Pam Doyle, vice president of general education and health sciences for WSU Tech. “This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with WSU to serve the needs of both high school and adult students in the Haysville area.”

Wichita State’s other locations include WSU Old Town, WSU South, WSU West and the Hughes Metropolitan Complex.
