Airbus, Wichita State partner to help break a Guinness World Record

Airbus and Wichita State University are partnering with organizations around the globe in an international effort to break a Guinness World Record. Join “Help Launch the World Record” at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 8 in the Rhatigan Student Center east entrance and patio to support the Women of Aviation Worldwide Week.

Students, faculty and staff will have an opportunity to help break the record for most paper planes launched simultaneously in multiple time zones while raising awareness about the opportunities for women in the aerospace and aviation industries.

Mayor Jeff Longwell will be WSU’s honored guest at this event. Longwell will blow the horn signaling take-off and offer a few remarks after the launch.

Prizes will be awarded to student groups with the most participation. The organization with the most participants at the event will receive $200. The organization with the most social media shares using #ShocksLandtheRecord will receive $100.

Registration will be available 10:30 – 10:55 a.m., March 8.

Take-off for our time zone is at exactly 11 a.m., March 8. Participants are encouraged to come early to register, fold a plane and prepare for an 11 a.m. launch.
