Learn how to use your telescope at the observatory

The Lake Afton Public Observatory, in conjunction with the Kansas Astronomical Observers, invites anyone who would like some pointers on how to use their own telescope to attend one of our “Bring Your Own Telescope” (BYOT) programs.

Bring your telescope to the observing pad behind the observatory building where members of the Kansas Astronomical Observers will be waiting to assist you.

They will also have a number of their own telescopes available to look through. Also, if you’re considering buying a telescope, come out to get more information about the different types of telescopes available.

There is no charge for the telescope consultation. If you would like to see the observatory’s regularly scheduled program and exhibits, regular admission charges will apply.

The KAO and observatory will be hosting BYOT gatherings on the third Friday of each month, May through September.
