Wichita East High School graduate Sydney Fish is the latest recruit to Wichita State University’s rowing team.

Fish will join two other recently announced recruits starting in the 2009/2010 season: Trinity Academy graduate Sydney Blanton and Maize High School graduate Grant Milford.

Fish has been a part of the Wichita Rowing Club for two years, where most recently she placed first in the women’s junior double at the 2009 Great Plains Regatta.

She was also the gold medal winner at the 2009 Shocker Sprints in the 2000 meter and 500 meter junior women’s events.

“Sydney has the athletic mentality we’re looking for,” said head coach Calvin Cupp. “She understands what it means to be a student-athlete, how to balance athletics and academics. I’m looking forward to her leadership on the women’s novice team.”
