KCEE to host workshop on the economics of sports

On Monday and Tuesday, June 22-23, the Kansas Council on Economic Education (KCEE) will host the Sports & Econ 101 workshop at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City.

Speakers include university professors; former Kansas City Chiefs stars Gary Spani and Kevin Lockett; and Toby Cook of the Kansas City Royals. The participants also will receive a tour of the speedway’s facilities.

The workshop, which discusses the economics of sports, provides continuing education credit for certified Kansas teachers.

For more detailed information on the event, go to http://www.kcee.wichita.edu/SportsEcon101.htm.

Those wanting graduate credit can obtain such credit through Wichita State University and the other five Kansas state universities with tuition assistance from the KCEE.

KCEE is a nonprofit with the mission of ensuring that youth in grades kindergarten through 12 are literate in personal finance and economics.

It is affiliated with all of the six state universities through Centers for Economic Education on the universities’ campuses and is based in the W. Frank Barton School of Business at WSU.
