Consultant for Oprah Winfrey show to speak at WSU

Cynthia Heiss, professor in the department of health professions at Metropolitan State College of Denver and consultant for the Oprah Winfrey show, will speak about nutrition and hydration issues in older people, with an emphasis on the needs of adults who have swallowing difficulties, at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, in 208 Ahlberg Hall. Admission is free.

The presentation is part of the Second Annual Seminar in Aging and Swallowing Issues, and is supported by the WSU department of communication sciences and disorders in the College of Health Professions and WSU's Regional Institute on Aging.

Heiss' work is well-published in academic journals and in magazines for the lay public. She is the editor of a book on healthy restaurant options with Bob Greene, exercise physiologist and Oprah's personal trainer.
