WSU alum Robin Meyers to speak in lecture series

Wichita State University alum Robin Meyers, senior minister at Mayflower Congregational Church in Oklahoma City, will be the featured speaker at the University Congregational Church's Lecture Series Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30-31, at 9209 E. 29th St. N. in Wichita.

All events are free and open to the public; however, free will donations are welcome.

Meyers' most recent book, "Saving Jesus from the Church," will be a big part of his lectures. He received his bachelor's degree from WSU in 1975.

The schedule of events follows:

Friday, Oct. 30
Reception at 7 p.m.
Lecture at 8 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 31
Coffee reception at 9 a.m.
Lecture and workshop at 10 a.m.

Meyers is the son of Robert Meyers, founding minister at University Congregational Church. Robert Meyers was a professor of biblical, American and English literature at WSU for more than 20 years.

His civic involvement in Wichita has included dozens of addresses to professional organizations and literary and biblical groups. He scripted and narrated the highly successful film presentation that raised funds for two Ronald McDonald houses in Wichita.
