WSU graduate student presents photography show

"In Retrospect," a show consisting of about 50 photographic works from Diana Suarez, will be on display now through Friday, Dec. 11, with a reception at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, in the Rhatigan Student Center Gallery at Wichita State.

Admission is free.

Suarez is an opera performance graduate student and Spanish instructor at WSU. The images are a collection of her travels around the United States, Mexico and Germany. For gallery information, go to http://www.wichita.edu/rscgallery.

Having the desire to capture life, as it is through the camera lens, is why Suarez enjoys photography.

“When I travel, I take the time to look, to explore my surroundings, to breathe in the scenery,” she said. “All around us we have beauty, peace, simplicity, as well as character, perseverance and amazing details that mark our history, our paths and even our future.”

The focal points of her photography are the architectural features of urban life and natural landscapes of Earth.

“The world we live in has become chaotic,” she said. “Sometimes we get so busy we forget to stop and look around us.”
