Thousands to attend Schoolhouse Rocks with the Shocks Day

More than 8,000 elementary and middle school students will visit Wichita State University when the women's basketball program hosts the third annual Schoolhouse Rocks with the Shocks Day at 12:05 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, in Charles Koch Arena against Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

The event is part of the NCAA "Pack the House" initiative and allows area schools to bring kids to the game for free as part of a learning experience. Each school has been issued a packet of math activities for students to perform during the game, using measurements, counting and other math problem-solving skills.

"We are so excited for our Schoolhouse Rocks with the Shocks game," head coach Jody Adams said. "This is a great opportunity to showcase not only the sport of women's basketball, but our great university to thousands of potential Shockers.”

The Kansas Department of Transportation Buckle-Up Fun Zone will be open for the students prior to the game. Limited general admission tickets are available to the general public for the event.

Free tickets for Wichita State faculty and staff can be picked up prior to the game by showing a Shocker Card at the Shocker Ticket Office in Charles Koch Arena.
