Band that plays with plastic instruments performing at WSU

Plastic Musik, a group that makes music with plastic instruments, will perform at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, at Wichita State University’s CAC Theater.

The show is free for students, $2 for faculty and staff, and $3 for general admission.

Founded in 2002 in Roanoke, Va., Plastic Musik is an abstract percussion show that combines innovative instrumentation with high-energy and stunning theatrics. In 2008, Plastic Musik relocated itself to Las Vegas, becoming one of the most sought-after eclectic performance troops in the entertainment industry.

By using all plastic instruments, including a product known as “boomwhackers,” Plastic Musik puts an unexpected twist on some of the most recognizable songs of our time. Imagine a complete arrangement of Mozart’s 40th, performed entirely with plastic tubes.

Plastic Musik also incorporates carefully choreographed movement, musical improvisation, audience participation, on-stage interaction and performer personality into its shows.
