WSU College of Fine Arts has busy March planned

The College of Fine Arts at Wichita State University has excellent offerings for audiences this March.

The School of Music starts the month off with a Benefit for Haiti concert by the WSU Percussion Ensemble and Steel Band.

WSU’s Opera and Musical Theatre will present two one-act operas in one stellar evening with Ravel’s “L'Enfant et les Sortileges” (“The Enchanted Child”) and Hindemith's “Hin und Zuruck” (“There and Back”).

March also features Andrea Banke and Deborah Baxter in faculty artist recitals, the Madrigal Invitational, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, the jazz bands, two Wednesdays in Wiedemann concerts by Lynne Davis and an organ series recital by guest Ludger Lohmann.

WSU Dance closes out the month with four nights of “The Wiyos of Oz,” a multidisciplinary performance combining film and dance on stage with the live music of the Wiyos in an original production and a most unusual adaptation of the classic “Wizard of Oz” story.

Tickets can be purchased in person or by phone from noon-5 p.m. Monday-Friday at the College of Fine Arts Box Office, (316) 978-3233.
