Governor Laura Kelly has officially proclaimed 2026 as Wichita State University’s Barton School of Business Centennial year in the State of Kansas, recognizing the school’s 100 years of excellence in business education, leadership development and service to the Wichita community and beyond.
Issued Feb. 27, 2026, at the Kansas State Capitol in Topeka under the Great Seal of the State, the proclamation honors the Barton School’s enduring impact on the economic and social vitality of Wichita and its role in preparing generations of business leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals.
“For 100 years, the Barton School of Business has helped shape Kansas’ business landscape and strengthen our communities,” the proclamation states. “The Barton School’s legacy of leadership, innovation and service continues to inspire future generations to pursue education and make a meaningful impact within Wichita and beyond.”

Founded in 1926, the Barton School of Business has built a legacy rooted in strong regional origins while driving global impact. Over the past century, the school has advanced business education, fostered innovation and prepared leaders to navigate complex challenges in a dynamic economy.
