The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University has announced that Dr. Duane Nagel has been selected at the chair for the college’s marketing department. Nagel has worked within the Barton School for more than six years as an assistant and associate professor.
“Duane is an ambitious, visionary, innovative and engaging professor,” said Dr. Larisa Genin, Dean of the Barton School. “These qualities make for a great chair too. I’m excited to see how he utilizes his skills to take our marketing department to new heights of excellence.”
Prior to receiving his doctorate degree in marketing from Florida State University, Nagel worked in marketing where he managed high profile clients including Polaris Industries, Proctor & Gamble and Shiner Beers. His academic research examines how brands engage and co-create/collaborate with their various stakeholders through technology. Currently, Nagel is working on projects that focus on how brands can leverage new tools such as virtual influencers, AR/VR/Mixed Reality, and the coming metaverse to engage consumers and support brand objectives.
“The future of marketing is multi-faceted and experiential,” said Nagel. “I try to bring that applied, visceral approach to my teachings in the classroom. As chair, I will continue to utilize that industry experience and approach to elevate our department.”
