The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University is pleased to announce the addition of Mike Daood, president of LodgeWorks, to its Dean’s Advisory Board.

“I’m very excited to join a distinguished group of the Barton School’s Dean’s Advisory Board members and serve alongside some of the brightest and most strategic minds out there,” said Daood.

Prior to his time at LodgeWorks, Daood served as General Manager with Summerfield Hotel Corporation. He opened two Summerfield Suites Hotels and held a dual GM role between 1996 and 2000. Before joining Summerfield, he trained and worked with the Bristol Hotel Company in Texas and Mississippi holding positions in Accounting and Rooms Division Management. He is a graduate of Cornell University, with a bachelor’s degree in hotel administration.

“The hospitality industry is a very competitive industry and thus requires businesses to innovate constantly,” said Dr. Larisa Genin, Dean of the Barton School. “The continued success of LodgeWorks is a testament to Mike’s innovative leadership.”

LodgeWorks is a privately held hotel management and development company with a rich history as a hospitality brand innovator. Its portfolio consists of Archer Hotels, a proprietary boutique collection, and management of national brands including Aloft Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Hyatt House and Hyatt Place.

“Having Mike join the board is an exciting time for the Dean’s Advisory Board,” said Margaret Dechant, chair of the Barton School Dean’s Advisory Board as well as CEO and partner at 6 Meridian. “His vast knowledge of the hospitality industry and leadership will make our board even more diverse in thought.”

The Dean’s Advisory Board, which consists of 50 diverse industry leaders from around the world, works to advance the mission and strategic priorities of the Barton School through strengthening, enriching and enhancing the student experience.
