President Bardo addresses Congress about WSU's continuous education model to meet workforce needs

President John Bardo addressed the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce recently about initiatives at Wichita State that are gaining national attention.

“At WSU, we are continuously innovating to provide meaningful, high quality, accessible educational opportunities to address the needs of the people of this region and the state of Kansas,” said Bardo.

One significant approach that WSU has taken to meet these needs is by providing a continuous education model that is exportable, of recognized quality, and allows individuals to grow intellectually while improving their workforce competitiveness.

Ground to be broken soon for new Crash Dynamics Lab

Crash Dynamics Lab

Ground will soon break on the new Crash Dynamics Lab on the Innovation Campus development.

The National Institute for Aviation Research is transforming the lab into a premier research facility in order to meet industry standards and expectations.

The new facility will consolidate The Crash Dynamics, Virtual Engineering and Flight Simulation labs, which commonly work together to assist in the development of new aircraft and modification of existing aircraft.

A centrally located lobby will serve as an interactive space and provide a link between the Sled Bay, Engineering Lab and two client spaces, which allow for simultaneous testing preparation. An additional lab testing area and room housing anthropomorphic test dummies will be located next to the sled bay.

Construction on the facility, located at 18th Street and Oliver Ave., is expected to begin in late 2018 and take about a year to complete.

The new premier research facility will allow the lab to expand their services, increase capacity and diversify their client base in order to bring national and international business to the region and provide additional applied research and learning opportunities for students.
