New urgent care center will serve the needs of WSU community

Wichita State will be home to the new Wesley Healthcare Urgent Care Center, thanks to a $3 million partnership between Wesley Healthcare and the Greater Wichita YMCA.

The urgent care center will be located inside the new campus YMCA and is expected to open at the same time, in early 2020.

Campus community invited to Airbus + WSU Innovation Fair

Airbus would like to invite the WSU community to the first Airbus + WSU Innovation Fair, located at Airbus (1855 Innovation Blvd.), from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23.

Meet with representatives from Airbus, NIAR, FirePoint, Shocker Startup and many others to learn about the innovation resources and organizations on campus.

Badge program offers more courses for working professionals



Wichita State continues to develop a number of new courses for working professionals through its online badge program.

Badges are self-paced, online courses conveniently designed for students not currently seeking a degree but instead looking to develop new skills and gain new competencies related to their job. They can also be stacked over time and applied toward degree completion.

The new offerings range from topics such as “Beginning Jazz Improvisation” to “The Skeletal Muscle as an Endocrine Organ.”

WSU weekly briefing to highlight research funding

Weekly briefing

Karen Davis, pre-award services, Office of Research and Technology Transfer, will present an update on research funding at the WSU Weekly Briefing at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday, Aug. 9) in the Marcus Welcome Center.

Zach Gearhart, director of governmental relations, will give the university update.

The briefing will be live streamed and available later that day at https://wsu.news/Youtube. There will be time for questions at the end of the briefing.
