Study Abroad updates: COVID-19

All university-sponsored international travel is discontinued at this time for all students, staff and faculty, which includes Study Abroad programs per the university announcement last week. The university has decided to make these changes in an abundance of caution. Although university offices will be open during this time, we are making some changes that will impact the services we normally provide in the Garvey International Center for the area of Study Abroad.

DiverseCity postponed 2020

4th Annual DiverseCity has been postponed!

After much thought and consideration, we have made a difficult decision to postpone the 4th annual DiverseCity Showcase, originally scheduled from April 13-18.

We are taking the advice of the CDC to practice social distancing due to COVID-19. Wichita State University and WSU Student Health Services are closely monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak. The health and safety of our students, faculty, staff and community members is our highest priority.

Cops support Shocker Locker

2nd Annual Cops for Shocks Food Drive now to March 31

The WSUPD challenges departments all across campus as we did last year to help stock the Shocker Support Locker.

Donations are accepted at the Police Department lobby from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. We will be glad to pick up and deliver for you, or give your donation to any WSUPD officer until March 31.

Donate shelf stable pantry items, baby food and diapers, hygiene products and bottled water.

Avoid canned green beans, corn, high sugar foods and food past the expiration date.

Inneke Vargas

WSU psychology student focuses on mental health stigmas in minorities

She’s a dreamer, full of ambition and passionate with a goal to change the world. A lofty task, some might say, but for her, she understands if “not her, then who?”

Inneke Vargas, a senior studying psychology with a minor in criminal justice, returned to Wichita State University after working in various industries. During her time outside of school, she worked at Via Christi, Cox Communications and Koch Industries, just to name a few. Her experiences narrowed down her desire, eliminated career paths and opened the doors to return back to school.

Purpose of the study: We are studying active listening and are interested to see if relative age has an effect on how a person feels they are communicating with another.

If interested, follow the link below to take an anonymous online survey that should take no more than 10 minutes. This survey is to be completed only by those 18 years of age or older.

The survey can be found here.
