Hundreds come out to mourn President John Bardo

Hundreds of members of the Wichita State University campus community turned out Monday, March 18, to honor and mourn President John Bardo.

Dr. Bardo died Tuesday, March 12, at Wesley Medical Center after a long illness. He was 70 years old.

Following a private service, Dr. Bardo took one last ride through the campus he dearly loved. The funeral procession paused at five locations throughout the university as students, faculty, staff and community members stood solemnly in observation.

Dr. Bardo was the 13th president of Wichita State. His legacy is one of an effective, vibrant agent of change. From the first days of his presidency, he began to outline the path to a bold, audacious new future for the university and the city of Wichita.
