As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, faculty experts in the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Wichita State University are studying the way populations have reacted and adapted.
Presentations in the Perspectives on the Pandemic: Part II series feature a political scientist, sociologist, criminologist, health disparities panel and performing arts panel. Each event will be delivered via Zoom and hosted by Andrew Hippisley, dean and professor of linguistics.
More details about each talk, including the Zoom address, will be available approximately one week prior to the scheduled date. Presenters will give their talks at 4 p.m. on the following Wednesdays in August and September.
- Aug. 26 "The impact of COVID-19 on democracy in the world," by Dinorah Azpuru, professor of political science
- Sept. 2 "Rethinking the city and the community for a post-pandemic world," by Chase Billingham, associate professor of sociology
- Sept. 9 "The impacts of COVID-19 on incarcerated people and their families," by Breanna Boppre, assistant professor of criminal justice
- Sept. 16 "COVID-19 health disparities: minority health and health equity," panel moderated by Melissa Walker, associate professor of public affairs
- Sept. 23 "What the pandemic has meant to performing artists and their audiences," panel moderated by special guest host Rodney Miller, College of Fine Arts dean and professor of voice
