As a new graduate, I understand how expensive college can be. Luckily, the Shocker City Partnership at Wichita State University provides discounted tuition rates to new students from certain areas in Colorado, Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.
Residents of the Denver, St. Louis, Kansas City, St. Joseph, Oklahoma City, Stillwater, Tulsa, Austin, Dallas – Fort Worth, Killeen – Temple, San Antonio or Waco metropolitan areas (see the full list of participating counties below) are eligible for in-state tuition rates. This means an undergraduate student enrolled in 15 credit hours per semester would save more than $37,000 over four years.
Still not convinced?
Located in Wichita, the largest city in Kansas, Wichita State is surrounded by entertainment. Students can take a free bus ride to the heart of downtown to walk along the river or check out the more than 100 restaurants, shops, galleries and museums.
Throughout the city, students can take advantage of the Sedgwick County Zoo, the Tanganyika Wildlife Park, more than a dozen museums, nature trails and eat-and-play restaurants like Chicken N Pickle (think outdoor games, pickleball and good times) and Dave and Buster’s.
In addition, Wichita annually ranks among the Top 10 for cost of living, quality of life and best cities for new college grads.
I’m originally from Denver, but I don’t have plans to leave Wichita any time soon. I know that if my mountain-loving self can feel at home here, anyone can.
