Amber Nguyen came to Wichita State to stay close to home where she was offered scholarships to help cover her tuition. She participated in events and organizations on campus to network and gained experience through her design internship with the Office of Strategic Communications.

What degree did you earn?
Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design.
What led you to Wichita State to begin?
I want to stay close to home and Wichita State offers me scholarship that covers most of my tuition.
How are you feeling leading up to graduation?
I feel very excited.
What has been your most helpful learning experience while a student at Wichita State?
The most helpful learning experience while a student at Wichita State was being a design intern at Strategic Communication. I got to learn to work in a team and on various kind of projects.
What was been your biggest challenge as a student, and how did you overcome it?
As a student, my biggest challenge was to make new friends, but I overcome that by participate in events on campus and joined a student organization.
What are your plans after graduation?
My plan after graduation is to find a design position that allows me to learn more hand skills and design thinking.
How has the COVID-19 pandemic affected your time at Wichita State or your post-graduation plans?
Covid-19 pandemic has changed the way I attended class and has taken away my opportunity of getting face to face critiques of my works from my peers and professors.
What advice would you give other Wichita State students?
Don’t be afraid to try something new and actively participate in events on campus. It will let you meet new people.
