Meet a Shocker: Nicolas Olmedo

Nicolas Olmedo studied economics in the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and will start work at Textron Aviation in January in the sales development program.

What made you choose Wichita State University?   

I chose WSU because of its excellent business program, the beautiful city of Wichita and the great job opportunities.

What has been your biggest challenge as a student, and how did you overcome it?  

My biggest difficulty has been being away from my family and loved ones. It has been a challenge that I have been able to overcome thanks to the facilities and resources of the university, friends from all over the world and my dedication to keeping myself occupied.

What's your favorite off-campus location in Wichita?  

Any coffee shop where you can have an espresso.

If you could choose a song to play when you walk across the stage at graduation, what would it be?  

Queen – “We Will Rock You.”

What are your plans after graduation?  

I am fortunate to have secured a job at Textron Aviation for the full-time position of sales development program upon graduation starting in January 2024. It's good to know that I have something to do when I graduate!

What advice would you give other Wichita State students?  

Enjoy your time, take advantage of all the tools that the university offers you, and don't rush. Everything in its own time.
