All Students Town Hall meeting today (Monday, Feb. 11) on Shock the Future Referendum
Provost Richard Muma and Teri Hall, vice president of Student Affairs, will host an All Students Town Hall meeting to answer questions and spark discussion on the Shock the Future Referendum, a student-led campaign that identifies a list of academic and student success infrastructure needs.

‘Safe Haven’ art exhibition reception today (Monday, Feb. 11)
The SGA "Safe Haven" Art Exhibition and Auction will have a reception from 3-5 p.m. today (Monday, Feb. 11) at the Cadman Art Gallery, first floor, Rhatigan Student Center. Meet the artists, view the art, and purchase it in a silent auction while enjoying light hors d’oeuvres.
“Safe Haven” is a benefit show featuring art pieces from multiple WSU students. Art pieces feature the theme of “home,” and all proceeds from art sales will go to the WSU Center for Combatting Human Trafficking.

Managing Classroom discussion training available
Graduate Studies will offer a Managing Classroom discussion and lunch from noon-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, in 142 RSC. The presenter will be John Jones from the Media Resources Center.
One of the most effective teaching techniques we have at our disposal is discussion. In this training we will talk about managing discussion – how to draw out students, establish a safe space for students to explore ideas, and how to keep control without stifling student voices.

University Libraries (UL) can make your life easier, especially when it comes to doing library research. Come to the Library Tips and Tools workshop from 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, in 217 Ablah Library. Registration is appreciated but not required. Register here.
Learn about library resources that help you avoid article charges, the EndNote software program provided by the UL that reduces the effort required to format research papers and citations, technology equipment such as iPads and portable projectors that you can borrow, subject librarians who are available for individual and group consultations, and much more.
Besides brief demonstrations, there will be time for questions and answers. The University Libraries invites all graduate students, especially new ones, to attend.
Steve Feilmeier to speak at rescheduled SGu event

We will partner with Startup Grind Wichita to bring Steve Feilmeier to campus to speak
about his experiences in an entrepreneurial and innovative position. As a graduate
from Wichita State, Feilmeier has great insight to share with students about how he
became one of the highest ranking individuals at Koch Industries, and the directions
he sees both the company and local students going in the future.

We will take a bus to Winter Park and to the Beaver Village Condo's where we will be staying. We will have three full days on the slopes. All basic ski equipment is included in the total cost.

Call for Presentations / Save the Date: 6th Annual Gender & Sexuality in Kansas Conference
We are currently seeking submissions of original research, training / workshops, and other scholarship from any discipline from students, scholars, staff, and interested others associated with a college or university in Kansas.
The deadline for submissions is Monday, Feb. 25. We hope that you will consider submitting a proposal consisting of a 200-300 word summary of your proposed presentation, and/or encourage your students and colleagues to submit proposals.
The conference will take place on Friday, March 29 in the Rhatigan Student Center.
Our keynote speaker for this year’s conference is Monique Morris, award-winning author of the book “Pushout: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools.” Her talk will be titled “Education is Freedom Work (And Other Critical Reflections about Responses to School Pushout for Black Girls).”

Ulrich Museum of Art seeks presenters for FUN/Future Now at the Ulrich, highlighting campus-wide research
The Ulrich Museum’s first ever FUN event featured visually engaging slideshows from both graduate students and faculty. The presentations highlighted research topics from how metal mine drainage affects our water systems to fighting dental bacteria using honey and cranberries.

Graduate student seeking participants for coping with depression research project
A WSU graduate student working on her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology is seeking volunteers to participate in a project that compares two approaches for coping with depression. This study will be conducted within the Department of Psychology (Jabara Hall) under the supervision of Robert Zettle, and will require your involvement for 18- 20 weeks. The study involves eight weekly treatment sessions.
The first two weeks involve one hour sessions and the remaining six sessions will be half-hour sessions. Participants who complete all sessions will be contacted one week and two months later for follow-up measures.
Participants must be at least 18 and will be screened in three stages to determine their eligibility.
If you are interested, complete an online survey (30 minutes) to assess your initial eligibility. The next two stages will be conducted in person for 20 and 50 minutes respectively.

SAC presents Rain Dove on Thursday, Feb. 14
Rain Dove is an androgynous/agender model, actor, and activist. Featured in Vogue, Cosmo and People magazine, Dove, is best known for breaking the stereotypes through their work in fashion, posing as male and female models in photoshoots, productions and runway shows. Genetic engineer, firefighter, and fashionista, Rain Dove is a humanitarian bringing awareness to what is means to be non-binary and promoting self-identity. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. event Thursday, Feb. 14, in the CAC Theater. Admission is free.
