Shocker Blast: Aug. 26, 2018

SEM for Aug. 26, 2019

Office hours are really student hours!

Office hours are student hours. When is the last time you visited one of your faculty members during their “office hours?” Do you know what that term even means? These are specific times that instructors have set aside to meet with students in their office (hence the term “office hours”) to answer questions about content from class, visit about research, or chat about career options in their field. Faculty and instructors want to help you succeed, so check out the hours on their syllabus and go visit them -- if, for no other reason, to introduce yourself and say “hello!”

Being Vegan at WSU

Foodie Finds: Being Vegan at WSU

Welcome back to Wichita State!

As you begin another year of school, you need to remember what is most important. Food. Good food.

For vegans like myself, it can be difficult to find good food, especially in Wichita. Luckily, as more and more people turn to veganism, more and more places offer vegan options. I know you can go to Walmart and get tofu and frozen meat alternatives, but sometimes you just don’t want to cook.

In the last few years, several places in Wichita have embraced the lifestyle. Options are still limited, but they are out there. WSU even has some good options if you don’t want to leave campus.

Remember to use the new form when submitting information for internal newsletters

Strategic Communications appreciates all of the information we receive from faculty, staff and students for our internal newsletters – WSU Today, Shocker Blast and Campus Connection. We couldn’t do what we do without your help.

Moving forward, we are asking you to use the WSU newsletter submission form. The submission form link will also be available on the newsletter pages. Effective Monday, Sept. 16, only submissions sent through the form will be considered for inclusion.

The purpose is to streamline the process for submitting news and information for internal communications. The form should also result in more consistency in compiling the newsletters.

PDFs will no longer be accepted because their content isn’t easily transferred to calendars, and because of accessibility issues.

If you have questions, contact Joe Kleinsasser, co-director of news and media relations, at joe.kleinsasser@wichita.edu or call 978-3013.
