Nominees must be a current undergraduate student with senior status and good academic standing as of January 2020, and must not have previously been a finalist for Homecoming Royalty. Individuals are welcome to self-nominate, or can be nominated by a WSU student, faculty, or staff member.

Artists wanted to transform utility boxes at WSU Tech
Attention artists! WSU Tech needs your help to bring some new artistic style to their main campus at 4004 N. Webb Rd. Several artists will be selected to paint original designs on electrical box covers throughout the campus, with an artist stipend of $400 per box. The Ulrich Museum is hosting Future Now, showcasing research across campus
The Ulrich Museum of Art invites you to join us from 4-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, for PechaKucha style presentations on campus-wide research. There will be four presenters who have seven minutes each. A reception is to follow. The event is free and open to the public.

All Campus Access using WSU single-sign-on allows students, faculty and staff to easily access and benefit from Gartner research. Through the online web portal, they can search and download the latest Gartner research, including real-life examples of how technology is used.
Looking for Native American students to start a professional organization
The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) is a national organization that celebrates students of Native heritage in STEM fields. There are over 180 chapters at colleges all across the United States, but there is not a chapter at Wichita, which is why we are recruiting members to establish the WSU chapter.

Callista Owens receives aid from the WSU Foundation
Callista faced a hard choice this summer. Ready to enroll for her junior year at Wichita State, she still owed the university a hefty sum from her sophomore year. With no available cash to pay the debt, she was prepared to take a year off school to raise the money by working. The College of Fine Arts learned of her predicament and, with the help of a generous donor, was able to help her.

WSU Weekly Briefing to feature the dean of liberal arts and sciences
The WSU Weekly Briefing will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, in the Marcus Welcome Center. The featured speaker will be Andrew Hippisley, dean of the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at WSU.
Zach Gearhart, director of Government Relations at WSU, will give the overall university update.
The briefing will be livestreamed and available later that day at WSU Weekly Briefing. There will be time for questions following the briefing.
Join the ASL Club for a special showing of Nosferatu
At 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, in 218 Hubbard Hall, WSU's ASL Club will be hosting a Silent Movie night featuring a spooky-themed showing of Nosferatu! The showing is free to attend; however, this is a fundraising event and as such we will be selling drinks and snacks during the event. Hope to see you there.
Shockers for Life to offer free showing of Unplanned this Saturday
Shockers for Life will host a free showing of Unplanned at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, in 266 RSC, as part of its mission to spread awareness of the pro-life movement on campus. This movie is based on the true story of former Planned Parenthood Director Abby Johnson, who worked for the organization for several years before becoming a pro-life advocate.
Following the showing, the Shockers for Life executive team will host a discussion where all attendees are welcome to share their thoughts and engage in respectful dialogue about the themes presented.
Viewers are advised that this movie is rated R for scenes depicting abortion.

Student Activities Council hosts Finals Frenzy events each semester. We ask other organizations and departments for information on their events so we can include them in our marketing and include them in our event listing. 17th Annual P3 Awards design competition now open
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) 17th Annual P3 Awards: A National Student Design Competition Focusing on People, Prosperity and the Planet (P3) is now open. This competition is designed to address environmental changes and develop real-world solutions. The EPA is seeking applications in the research areas of air quality, safe and sustainable water resources, sustainable and healthy communities and chemical safety.
This is a two-phase competition. Phase I teams compete for a one-year grant of up to $25,000 for project ideas addressing environmental solutions. Teams are eligible to compete for Phase II funding of up to $100,000 to implement their projects in a real-world setting.
The closing date for this competition is Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Make a difference as a Prevention Ambassador
The Prevention Services Advisory Board (PSAB) is currently recruiting students to become Prevention Ambassadors. They will assist the PSAB in our mission as it aligns with the #WSUWeSupportU prevention program that focuses on promoting mental health and wellness and preventing suicide, sexual violence and substance abuse. This position qualifies for a zero-credit internship, and will provide the opportunity to engage with the WSU community.

Celebrate Halloween with University Libraries on Saturday
Attend the University’s Library event, Halloween ComicFest, Saturday, Oct. 26. There will be a variety of events happening throughout the day, including a costume contest, a green screen photo booth, appearances by the 501 Legion, 3-D printing demonstrations, a screening of “House on Haunted Hill,” free comic books and more.

Bring the whole family and explore your creative side with the Student Activities Council and the Ulrich Museum of Art from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2. Together we will explore the galleries with a scavenger hunt, play games, and participate in hands-on art-making activities inspired by the artists, ideas, and materials featured in the Ulrich’s current exhibitions. The Ulrich Museum is located on the southwest corner of the Wichita State University campus (17th and Hillside).
