Withdrawal dates extended for spring
The last day to withdraw with a W from spring 2021 courses that begin Feb. 1 or after has been extended to the last day of classes for that course. Specifically, the last day to withdraw with a W from first half semester courses (7 week) will be March 19, and from full semester and second 7 week courses will be May 6. These extensions are applicable to spring 2021 only.

Wichita State awards newest $50,000 Barton Scholarship to student from Italy
Trinity Soderstrom, who recently received her U.S. high school diploma while living abroad in southern Italy, has been awarded the 2021 Wichita State University Clay Barton Scholarship.
She will receive $12,500 a year for four years to attend Wichita State. The $50,000 Barton Scholarship is one of the largest business scholarships in Kansas.

This month, Self-Care Sunday will feature Zentangle from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 28. Zentangle is a meditative and relaxing art form to decompress and recenter. Attendees will receive free Zentangle supplies. This event will take place both in-person in Hubbard 208 and virtually.

ShiftSpace seeks food-related art for ICT Community Fridge project
Help ShiftSpace fill up its oversized kitchen with food-related 2D and 3D art! This spring, ShiftSpace is teaming up with the ICT Community Fridge project. Rooted in mutual aid and justice, the ICT Community Fridge project aims to provide free food to any member of the Wichita community who needs it. Our goal is to create a food-themed show that also functions as a drop-off location for donations of dry goods. Your job is to make art to fill our oversized fridge and the gallery as a symbolic act of inspiration.
Participants are invited to create food-themed works of art and deliver them to the gallery located inside Groover Labs at 334 N. St. Francis St. from Feb. 19 to March 2. The gallery hours are 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday. All Wichita State students and community members are welcome to participate.
Participating artists must pick up work between 1 and 3 p.m. March 27 or by appointment.
Nominations for Senior Honor recognition due Feb. 19
Do you embody the Shocker Spirit? This highly competitive honor is awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding scholarship, leadership, involvement at WSU and service to WSU and the surrounding community. The Senior Honor is one of the most prestigious honors a Wichita State University student can receive, with only 10 students selected each year. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19.

Individual students, groups, and community members are invited to submit abstracts or proposals to present papers, posters, art works, dialogues, skits, and other projects at the Diverse Women’s Summit. The summit will be held on Zoom on March 8. Presentations are from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.. The proposal should be 100-200 words describing the presentation (type, subject, theme, and purpose). Presentations that focus on the following topics will be given priority:
- Research on issues of COVID-19 and special populations
- Citizenship and COVID-19
- Gender-based violence and other issues
- The future

TRIO Student Support Services is now accepting applications
Student Support Services is funded by the U.S. Department of Education to provide free academic services to students from first-generation and limited-income backgrounds, as well as students with disabilities.
The free services include: individualized tutoring, academic advising, textbook loans, assistance completing financial aid application, and scholarships exclusively for student participants.
Currently enrolled students who are interested in the program can visit Student Support Services on the third floor of Grace Wilkie Hall in Suite 309 or call 978-3715.
Earn money at Wichita State Behavioral Research Laboratory
The Economics Department at Wichita State invites you to participate in our behavioral games. You can earn extra cash and advance WSU’s research. Come to the computer lab at the scheduled time, play economic games on a computer, and walk away with cash (amount varies based on experiments). The whole thing normally takes 1-1.5 hours.

Ulrich community forum tackles issues of race and parenting
Join the Ulrich Museum of Art at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20 for a virtual community forum tackling the timely issue of race and parenting. Marquetta Atkins, executive director of Camp Destination Innovation and director of Seed House, leads a panel of community activists in an open dialogue for parents from different ethnic and racial backgrounds around how we talk to our kids about race, racism, and identity. Workshop explores Writing Professional Documents
The Shocker Career Accelerator invites students to join the Writing Professional Documents workshop at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 22 via Zoom. Professional Career Documents can be confusing, and not something everyone knows how to create. In this workshop, students can explore documents that are part of the employment process. Learn about resumes and cover letters, how to fill out an application, and how to write a letter of recommendation.

Series helps students develop leadership skills
Leadership Development serves to provide students with the resources they need to enhance the many leadership skills they already possess. Through targeted programming, students have the opportunity to choose how they would like to learn about leadership.
- SPARK is a one-day program designed to allow participants the time and space to connect with others and engage in learning more about their own story of leadership. Schedule: 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Feb. 26.
- Emerging Leaders is a unique opportunity for Wichita State students to get on the fast-track to student leadership, campus, and community involvement. Schedule: 2 p.m. Wednesdays from March 3 through April 28.
- The Evolving Leaders Program is designed for returning students to Wichita State who are looking to expand upon their leadership skills and abilities. Schedule: 2 p.m. Fridays from March 5 through April 30.

Free boxes of produce offered to students, faculty and staff
Common Ground Mobile Market provides free boxes of fresh produce and milk and targets areas with a high elderly population and food deserts within Wichita. On Saturday, Feb. 27, Common Grounds will be adding Wichita State to its route.
Drop-off time will be some time between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., but an exact time depends on Common Grounds' delivery route for the day. If you are not on campus when delivery is made, you can pick up your box at the Shocker Support Locker (Grace Wilkie 103).
