Panopto has been upgraded and is now on the cloud. There are a few things faculty and staff will need to do to have Panopto work, though.

Here is what you need to know:

Daily website update

You can find the index in the Quick Links at the top of each page or in the footer at the bottom of each page. If you feel something needs to be added to the A-Z index, use the web support feature at wichita.edu/websupport to file a ticket. The same goes for Best Bet site search matches. Please include the following information:

  • Title
  • Page Description (one or two sentences describing the page content)
  • Page URL
  • Keywords (words and phrases separated by comma)

The web support site as handled 142 support tickets to date with an average time to completion at 2.3 hours. Over the weekend, the website broke the 300 mark on users and now stands at 302 contributors.Training continues this week with daily sessions.

Overall site health is rising steadily and we've increased the site score to 82 (up from 78 at our last measurement). That increase was driven largely by increased accessibility and reestablished links. Our Spelling metric shows only modest improvement, but that is due the inclusion of lorem ipsum text in placeholder elements on all templates, and the number of proper names on the site that haven't been added to the site dictionary yet. Our Search Engine Optimization (SEO) score was flat, but we'll be working this week on correcting missing and incorrect Page Titles and H1 headings to improve SEO and to improve results in our own site search.

Tip of the Day: Navigation

One of the biggest changes in the new design is in the navigation feature. The design employs a mobile-first navigation design that hold links in an expandable "In This Section" bar at the top of the page. Here's a video primer on negotiation the new navigation.

Changes have been made to the temp and lecturer hiring process

A new process for hiring paperwork is effective today (Monday, Aug. 6) for all lecturer and temporary new hires.

With this change, hiring departments will no longer coordinate with employees to complete the new hire paperwork packet. That part of the process is now centralized within Human Resources, which is responsible for delivering the new hire paperwork packet to the new hire electronically.

This change creates an improved experience for our candidates and creates a more efficient process for the campus community.

Hiring departments will still complete the ePAF for the hires and will coordinate completion of the Spoken English Forms for lecturers. Please send any questions to employment@wichita.edu.
